NCO U18 FIS Coach

The National Capital Outaouais Ski Team is accepting applications for the position of
U18 FIS Coach for the 2012/2013 season. The NCO Ski Team is a high performance
program and feeder to the ON and QC provincial ski teams with a proven track record
of successful athletic development.

Contract Term: September to April

Qualifications

•CSCF level 2/developlment level or higher, CSIA level 2
•Past FIS coaching of racing experience
General requirements:
•Ability to manage FIS level athletes in technical and speed events
•Clean driving record
•Communicate verbally in both french and english
•Proven track record of athlete progression and positive influence
•Knowledge of ski racing related equipment, video, ski tuning and waxing techniques
•Criminal record check required

General Expectations:

•Perform team duties under the direction of the U18 FIS Head Coach
•Deliver innovative, positive and safe training sessions in the region and when abroad
•Deliver dryland maintenance workouts in season
•Assist athletes with equipment needs and maintenance
•Continue professional development throughout season and transition period
•Liaise with local NCO clubs and coaches
•Represent the vision and values of the NCO Ski Team at all times

TITLE: Head FIS Coach 

POSITION:

Calgary Alpine is looking for a highly motivated, energetic and well organized leader to fulfill the role of Head FIS Coach. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all on and off hill aspects of the FIS program. This individual will provide the clear communication to the athletes/parents and the Program Director. 

This position will require scheduling of FIS races and training programs, implementing an appropriate dryland regimen, developing and managing a proper budget, seek new initiatives in training and maintaining equipment.  All applicants must have a minimum of CSCF Level 3 coach and a minimum of Level 2 CSIA instructor or international equivalent,  have a solid background in the ski racing community, and currently possess their Class 4 driver’s license to operate the team van. Any official’s levels and/or technical and theoretical courses would be an asset. 

All applicants must possess solid computer knowledge and demonstrate strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. Ideally the successful candidate will be on contract by June 1, 2012. 

The Head FIS coach will report directly to the Program Director and when required to Calgary Alpine Board of Directors. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Job Opportunity: FIS Coach

The Snow Valley Racing Association is currently accepting applications for the position of FIS Coach.

Snow Valley Racing Association, located in Edmonton, AB, is one of the largest alpine ski racing clubs in Western Canada. Our FIS program is a J1 group in their second year of FIS racing. SVRA is committed to supporting a first rate program and the successful  candidate will possess the skills to foster an environment of fair play and high performance.

Specific Duties:

Reporting directly to the Program Director of Snow Valley Racing. This position is responsible for:

  • The preparation and implementation of a Yearly Training Plan (YTP) for a Train to Race program promoting the technical and tactical development of the athletes.
  • Develop and manage a detailed budget which is aligned to the YTP.
  • Work closely with the Alberta Alpine and ACA on initiatives to support athletes and system alignment.
  • Procurement and maintenance of effective training tools and equipment
  • Identification of key competitive opportunities, and training situations which will help the development of the athletes

Qualifications:

  • Performance Level (3) or High Performance Level (4) Canadian Ski Coaches Federation fully certified and licensed coach
  • Experience coaching high performance athletes
  • FIS experience is essential.
  • Kinesiology, Physical Education or related university degree in human movement is a strong asset.

Program Director - Cypress Ski Club, West Vancouver

The Position

The Cypress Ski Club is looking for a highly motivated, energetic, knowledgeable and well-organized Program Director to lead our club’s continuing growth and development.

The Cypress Ski Club Program Director is responsible for the effective organization and on and off hill delivery of the Cypress Ski Club programs, including the U6 to U12 or Nancy Greene Ski League (NGSL) programs, the U16 (K2) and U14 (K1) programs, and FIS/U18+ (with VST), and our Free Ski and Adult Ski Improvement programs. The Program Director leads coaches at all levels throughout the season, assists with on-hill coaching where required, and provides the technical vision for the club within the AIM2WIN framework. The Program Director works directly with the board to recruit and retain membership, manage the budget, manage mountain relations, support sponsorship and fundraising, and lead in the development of the Cypress Ski Club.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a track record of reliability in getting the right things done at the right time to create a world-class training experience for every athlete. The candidate is able and willing to support and champion Cypress Ski Club’s vision, mission and values. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required in this proven team player. We fully expect a commitment to performance and a commitment to keep the safety, success, and well being of the racers in our program the top priority.

Qualifications also include

  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills to lead planning and manage daily operations.
  • Demonstrated planning and execution abilities for technical and dryland programs.
  • Extensive coaching experience with an ideal minimum CSCF Performance Level certification (Level 3).
  • Class 4 Drivers License.
  • Computer abilities are an asset.
  • Post-secondary or advanced education is an asset.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications – please provide us with your salary expectations. The position will ideally begin June 1, 2012 but the date is negotiable.

Beaver Valley’s programs are an integral part of the ski club and our mandate is simple: to facilitate skill development and promote team spirit while igniting a passion for winter sports in future generations of skiers and snowboarders. 
 
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Alpine Program Manager, the Head Coach-Ski Racing is responsible for creating excellent opportunities and promoting competition and participation within our Racing Program. Working with Head Coaches from Freestyle skiing and Snowboarding along with the Snow School Manager, the Head Coach-ski racing will join a highly functioning team of dedicated program supervisors.  
 
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in coaching and the sport of ski racing, coupled with strong leadership and communication skills. Candidates will also have a vision for participation in our sports, and a dedication to create lifelong skiers at every level.
 
The Program

Beaver Valley’s Racing Program encompasses 200 athletes of all ages and levels, there is a distinct mix of individual and league (recreational) program participants and the momentum in participants and program quality can be felt by all involved. The program begins with Nancy Greene development for the 7yr olds and offers competitive programming right through to J Individual. The dedicated group of coaching staff are diligent and their sense of ownership in the program creates a fantastic environment.

Kelly VanderBeek Racing Club (KVRC) is seeking a Head K2 Coach to continue to build and grow its racing program.
 
Kelly VanderBeek Racing Club provides a year round training environment for 14 and 16 year old ski racers living in south western Ontario who wish to compete at the highest level open to this age group.
 
During the ski season, racers are able to train during the week at Chicopee Ski Club located in Kitchener, Ontario with the majority of training sessions and competitions in the Collingwood area. In the past three years, KVRC has grown from three full time athletes to six registered racers for the 2011/2012 season. 
 
The position involves roughly 70 days of work, predominantly between November 1st and March 31st, with the majority of the training completed in the Collingwood area. 
Qualifications for the position include, but not limited to:
 
·         CSCF Level 2 or higher / Development Coach or higher
·         Minimum of two years coaching experience at the K2 individual level or FIS level
·         Administrative duties include budgeting, planning and management of travel, overseeing all aspects of preseason camp, etc.
·         Candidate must have good organizational and communication skills as well as strong leadership qualities.
·         A positive role model to instruct and inspire  5 to 8 racers
