Collingwood, ON (November 24, 2009) – Alpine Ontario and Alpine Ontario South welcome Taylor Simms-Brown to the position of AOSD Masters Chair for the 2009-2010 season.

Taylor grew up participating in the Craigleith racing program. He has coached in various roles at Craigleith for the past 10 years, raced on the Master’s circuit for five seasons, and was captain of the Craigleith interclub team last year. Earlier this fall Taylor was appointed to Chair the interclub league, stepping in for Judi Sheppard after directing the league for the past three years. Currently Taylor resides in Toronto working as a consultant for in-store marketing.
 
Taylor further explains his role and the AOSD league. “The interclub committee is represented by a couple of members from each participating team. They meet throughout the year to review past successes and challenges, making the necessary adjustments to keep the league moving in the right direction. To point out a few individuals (beyond the team captains that organize their group for each event) are Hazel de Burgh, Bob McKee, Mickey Wallace, Craig Hansen, Jim Gear and Judi Sheppard. Ultimately, this core group of individuals ensures the waivers, rules, scheduling, scoring, safety and our website www.mastersracing.ca are up to date and administered properly.
 
We have over 300 participants whose skills can range from former National Team members to weekend warriors. Every race is a team event (with some fierce individual competition) where each club brings a representation of their home talent. Everyone is in their downhill suit with lots of pride on the line at each race. Sponsors like Druxy’s have ensured we  remember why we are out there standing in spandex at sub zero temperatures…the après which includes awards, sandwiches, and sometimes the odd cold one. If you are a competitor who’s looking for a challenge, be sure to inquire about a Master’s Racing at your club and come out for an afternoon…you’ll be impressed.”
