COLLINGWOOD, ON (December 21, 2009) -- Last week the news came from Alpine Canada into the AOA office that Larisa had been hurt while training in Europe.  All of us here have worked with Larisa at one time or another, be it athletics (Heather Metzger), entries (Janet Richter), interviews & photos (Kristin Ellis), finances (Susan Brown) and special events (Nancy Esson). We are all big fans of this incredibly talented athlete who never hesistates to give back. We watch her World Cup races on TV when we can and we had all hoped to see her race in the Olympics.

Join us by contributing to this Blog that will allow us to pass your notes along to Larisa.

NOTE: BLOG means your note will be posted below this news item on this webpage.

Let's show Larisa that Alpine Ontario cares.

Re: BLOG: Best Wishes for Larisa Yurkiw

As a race official I watched Larisa grow up as a ski racer on the Escarpment. I am saddened to see her on the sidelines, but I am willing to bet she will be back stronger then ever. For most race officials the job is fulfilling but generally thankless. Larisa always went out of her way to say thanks. And while always one of the best and certain to go onto bigger and better things, she was always one of the most humble, polite, down to earth racers I have ever met. Get better. When the time comes and your rehab is progressing you can forerun any event I am standing on the hill for.

Dear Larisa,
I met your Grandmother at Collingwood Hospital two years ago when I injured my knee. She is was sure proud of you!
Get well soon!
