ASPEN, CO (February 25, 2010) -- In the first of three downhill races scheduled for the Aspen Nor Am Ontario highlights include a top J1 finish for OST rookie Morgan Megarry (Craigleith). Morgan finished 39th -- while he is aiming for the top 20 the field is competitive with a pack of National team athletes from the Olympics in the gates.
World Jr. Medalist Kelby Halbert narrowly made it into the top 20 finishing 19th behind Ontario CAST racers Dustin Cook (Ottawa) in 10th and Georgian Peaks Tyler Nella in 8th spot. The race was won by US racer Steven Nyman in a time of 1.38.81, CAST's Jan Hudec was 2nd in 1.38.88 and US Will Brnadeburg 3rd in 1.39.58
Other Ontario racers following the top 20 include Phil Brown 22nd, Andrew Solomon 33rd (OST).

On the women's side the field was also tough with National team athletes participating including Canada's top finisher BC/CAST'S Georgia Simmerling in 5th spot. She followed four US girls including the winner Stacey Cook in a time of 1.41.5, Chelsea Marshall 2nd in 1.41.57 and Laurenne Ross in 1.41.93. Simmerling, like Nella and Hudec of Canada has just arrived from the Olympics.
Only two Ontario girls are racing - Brenley Nella in 39th spot (47 start), Emma Kitchen dnf.
