Last year 8 teams and 8 individuals raised $81,000 for the hospital. This year the hospital is hoping to get 12 teams and 12 individuals to raise $97,000 for new surgical equipment.
The Collingwood General & Marine (G&M) Hospital serves the municipalities of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, The Blue Mountains, Clearview Township, and parts of Grey Highlands. Although the area’s full-time population is approximately 60,000, the G&M is also the first point of care for the over two million recreational residents and visitors who frequent the area throughout the year.
The mission of the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation (Foundation) is to raise funds for the capital needs of the G&M including facilities, equipment, program and services not funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
In fact, in the past decade, the Foundation has provided more than 85% of all funding used to purchase new equipment and technology at the G&M. The Foundation has also played a major role in funding programs and services not covered by the Ministry including community education initiatives, a day chaplain program, staff education and program enhancements for the Community Mental Health Service.
