Welcome to Robyn Gear, Sue Nori and Taylor Martin!

Robyn Gear will be the new AOA Competition Manager; Taylor Martin an Assistant Coach with the Men’s OST, and Sue Nori an Assistant Coach with the Women’s OST. Cam Twible and Brad Eades are also returning to AOA; working with the women and men’s teams respectively. Glad to have you back!

Robyn Gear joins the team with over 10 years of sport specific experience.  She graduated from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Commerce/Sports Administration degree and immediately started working with the 24 Hours of Adrenalin, a mountain bike event company in Ontario, for three years.  After a year long trip through Europe and New Zealand by bike, she was hired by Cross Country Canada in Canmore, Alberta and most recently supported the National Cross-Country Ski Team at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

She is an avid outdoor enthusiast and was proud to call Lake Louise her weekend alpine ski resort for five years in the Bow Valley.  Robyn looks forward to settling back into life in Ontario and gaining some experience at the provincial sport organization level.  She will be joined by her husband Lawrence, and two dogs Tui & Taimen.

Robyn will be starting at AOA late August.

Sue Nori joins the Women’s OST as one of only two individuals in Canada to hold the concurrent qualifications of

Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, Certified Sport Conditioning Coach and Alpine Ski Coach.  The  dual qualifications of being both a “multi-disciplinary health care professional “ and “alpine ski coach” , with over 20 years of coaching experience,  provides her with an in depth understanding of the biomechanical and neuromuscular foundations necessary to ensure effective long term athlete development and prevention of athlete injury.

Sue’s coaching philosophy ties in with her unique qualifications.  "Long term athletic development involves more than on-hill coaching – much more. The athlete will not be able to execute the “on-hill” technical skills if they cannot first perform with efficiency and strength, their “off-hill” fundamental movement patterns.  We are an educated sport profession now. We understand so much more than we did 20 years ago - what it takes to lay the foundations of strong athletic performance and prevent unnecessary occurrence of injury.  Our job as coaches is to create sport specific training environments that both resolve biomechanical deficits and maximize athletic performance. Successfully doing so truly provides the athlete with the tools they need to acquire both the “on-hill” technical skills and prevent potential injuries from occurring at the same time!”

Taylor Martin is a familiar face around the FIS Circuit and is a welcome addition from the AOSD Escarpment team - an important feeding team to the Ontario Ski Team. Taylor has worked with the Escarpment Men's team for the past five seasons and before this at the J and K2 Level with the Osler Bluff Ski Club.

Taylor’s coaching philosophy bodes well for the kids entering the team. "I like to build a passion for the sport at a young age and try to keep skiing fun, at the same time as working as hard as possible.”
