OST BLOG by Jonathan Kellock, (rookie to the Team)

"Graduating from Northwood (located in Lake Placid, NY) was a great achievement for me. After working so hard to balance my academic and athletic career, it was so satisfying to be rewarded for my academic achievements.   Waiting to see if I would be selected to the Ontario Ski Team and be equally rewarded for my athletic persistence was something that was also so important to me.

I had chosen Northwood because of its reputation for producing top level ski racers. Alumi such as Andrew Weibrecht were more than enough proof to me that if I wanted to follow my dreams of ski racing , Northwood was the high school for me. However my plan also included coming back to Ontario and hopefully making the Ontario Ski Team. I knew I had taken a risk attending an American high school and hoped I had proven my abilities enough to be considered here in Ontario.

Hearing I had been selected to race for Ontario was the other half of my target realized, and actually, while not more exciting to my parents, more exciting for me than graduating. With the excitement of becoming a high school graduate leveling out, I have been able to turn my focus towards ski racing.

Now that the dry land training has begun I am seeing how exciting it is to really focus one hundred percent on my sport. I am looking forward to not having to juggle studying and training. I am already beginning to see the results of this commitment. I am ready to be completely devoted to the OST program and I look forward to getting on snow. I am thankful for this opportunity and dedicated to success."
