Hello from NZ, This is the second update from the men's team in NZ.
"The sun is finally back and snow conditions improving. The last 5 days have been challenging with changing weather and snow conditions. In the long run, I know this will benefit the athletes. They are learning about adaptability and perseverance in our effort to make every training day a productive one and to find the positive in facing the challenges of weather, snow conditions and changing plans. Today we had really good GS training, followed by a jump progression on the DH jump. Everyone of the guys made progress and pushed their own individual comfort zones (yet again as they have been each day). We are finding that the guys need to train in rough conditions because as they move forward through the ski racing pipeline they will certainly be racing in such conditions. They also are learning a lot about the attitude they need to bring to the hill when the visibility is poor and the ruts develop. Yesterday, after a tough day of SL training, I was very anxious for the good weather to return. I wanted the guys to experience more days like our first ones. But after a really fun and competitive game of soccer (in the afternoon) with strong team spirit and laughter from all the boys, I realized, the team spirit and the overall mood of the team was very much intact."
