MT. HUTT, CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND (September 3, 2010) -- Early this morning a 7.4 richter earthquake hit New Zealand, the epicentre only 10 minutes away from where the Ontario Ski Team is based. Direct reports from the coaches and athletes state that while this was a very scary event to wake up to, thankfully nobody was hurt.

Parents and AOA President Nancy Esson have been in touch with the team since the quake hit. Jeff Lackie reported that nothing but skis fell over and after awaiting news from Mt. Hutt they were able to travel up for training as scheduled....the only delay clearing rocks off the switchback.

While this will be, and has been a top story throughout the world, we stress the fact that all athletes and coaches are doing well and the camp is progressing as planned.

Stay tuned to the AOA site for photos and more news when the office reopens on Tuesday, September 7th.
