At my first Olympics in Torino, I was positioned in the second run to make an attack for an Olympic medal.  It was single handily the most exciting moment of my life.  You could imagine the thoughts going through my head in the starting gate: pressure, excitement, and nervousness.  I   W E N T   F O R   I T!  I took every risk I could.  I was young and had nothing to loose.  It’s something I’ll never regret doing despite it resulting in a crash that halted my dream.

Four years later I stood in the start gate at Vancouver, this time under very different circumstances: I had paid my own way there, $30,000 to represent Canada.

Now, my greatest challenge isn’t how I’m going to boost my strength, change my ski line and tactics, or gain that extra couple of feet down a 2000ft course.  This I have a plan for, and goals to take me there.  My biggest challenge is raising $78,500 to compete this coming season so I can shoot for gold in Sochi 2014.  Anyone who says there isn’t fallout in funding post Olympics probably isn’t in my situation.

Many athletes will talk about a fire within; a passion that motivates oneself to train and train to the point of exhaustion, then train some more.  That fire is not only burning inside me, it’s blazing. If you know me, you’ll know I don’t give up on things.  I’ve never stopped when a hurdle or flood were thrown my way.  I am determined to make my dreams a reality, for me and for my country.

I’m writing to send out two invitations to all my friends and family.

Alpine Canada, in honour of Olympians Patrick Biggs & Ryan Semple, cordially invite you to join us for a night of interaction and inspiring stories from the slopes!

Wednesday October 27th, 2010
