FIS Racing refers to the level of ski racing an athlete may enter upon the completion of the K2 program at the age of 15. (Please see FIS Age Change document in Related Documents on this page) FIS stands for Federation International de Ski (FIS) and it is the international governing body of alpine ski racing situated in Switzerland. FIS is responsible for sanctioning alpine ski races worldwide and Canada is among its members. Racers must be over 15 years of age to compete in FIS events. Racers are assigned a FIS license that provides them with a racing number that allows them to be ranked internationally.
FIS is the sanctioning body for all World Cup, Nor-Am, Europa Cup and Regional FIS Series races. Ontario offers FIS Sanctioned events that provide athletes with exposure to national and international competition. Events held annually include the regional FIS Miele Ontario Series including the Miele Ontario FIS Championships. These races are designed to offer exposure for entry level FIS athletes wishing to pursue high levels of competitions in Canada.
Racers entering the FIS level must apply for their racing license in order to be covered by FIS insurance. No on-hill activity may take place prior to obtaining a FIS License. All documents to apply for this license are on located on this page in the right column.
Athletes are encouraged to visit their ski club websites for specific club FIS program details, any questions on racing at the FIS level should be directed to your club Head Coach.

CANADA & US FIS RACE ENTRIES
Ontario Ski Team (OST) athletes are given priority, in order of lowest/best FIS points in each discipline, on all Ontario FIS race entries including NorAm’s. The remainder of Ontario athletes entries will then be ranked in order of FIS points below the OST entries. Once the quota for Ontario athletes is maximized, the remaining athletes will be put on a waiting list. Entry confirmation including waiting lists will be sent out to coaches, within 2 weeks of each event. Double entries are not permitted and will be sanctioned.
