ACA Speed module March 5-7th

Alpine Canada staff have just announced that during the 2018 Sport Chek U16 National Championships Alpine Canada will host a Rising Stars Speed Module running next week – Monday March 5th to Wednesday March 7th.  ACA will be offering these (4) educational and (1) risk management credit for $75.00 which fulfill both the annual licensing requirements and for coaches seeking their Development Level (DL) certified status, the required speed module component.  The Professional Development and Risk Management can apply towards next year’s licensing requirements if they have completed their current season PD/RM requirements.

The Rising Stars Speed Module description:

The primary objective of the ACA-CSC Speed module is to provide coaches with the ability to recognize safety issues and perform ongoing risk assessments related to speed training environments. The ACA-CSC Speed module is conducted over a three-day to five-day period, with on hill and indoor sessions. It is designed to increase the level of understanding of elements of speed for coaches who are working with or will be working with ski racers in the “Learn to Race through the Train to Race” development stages. Coaches are required to undertake and complete the ACA-CSC online Speed Module as a prerequisite to the on-hill speed course.

Coaches are introduced to speed concepts and principles through hands-on involvement in an actual speed training environment. The on-hill sessions are specifically designed to familiarize coaches with elements of speed through observation of ski racers and other coaches in training while reinforcing the concepts of safety and risk assessment, effective planning, organization and appropriate setup.

Please register on the www.canskicoach.org website.  All are welcome to attend not just coaches for the U16 Nationals event.  Session will be on-hill March 5-7 at Georgian Peaks and indoor March 5 at the Blue Mountain Inn Conference Centre, Weider Room 6-7:30pm.  Lift tickets for on-hill access during the races at Georgian Peaks will be covered by AOA.
