May 29th, 2018 — The SX Canada Ski Cross World Cup and Development Team evaluation camp were held earlier this month at Sunshine Village in Alberta. In total 15 athletes from across Canada were selected to try out for the Development team, five of these were selected from Ontario including Lexi Ransom (EASX), Cameron Gray (EASX), Jake Mealey (ON Team/Georgian Peaks), Reece Ralph (ABSX) and Amy Kress (SOD Team). This is a huge milestone in developing the sport of Ski Cross in Ontario. Unfortunately Jake and Amy where unable to attend, but both are hoping to be invited back next season.

In Sunshine, the athletes trained with the Canada Ski Cross Development Team and some members of the World Cup Team, including Ski Cross Olympic medalists Kelsey Serwa, Brittany Phelan and Marielle Thompson.

The training camp started on May 2nd and ran through to May 9th for a total of 9 days on snow including 3 blocks of 3 days each with a day off snow between each block.

The evaluation portion ran from May 10th through to May 13th. Conditions were excellent! Evaluation consisted of both on-hill and off-hill skills; specifically, technical free skiing, GS, Ski Cross track time, strength and conditioning.

We would like to congratulate these athletes and their accomplishment, as this was a very exciting time in their life and a great experience.

Results for D Team selection should be announced by Alpine Canada Alpin shortly providing these athletes with additional training opportunities.
