AOA coach education for the upcoming 2020 season will look slightly different than past years with the goal of capturing more coaches from the community and delivering added value with collaborations from the CSIA, CSIO, ACA and the industry, a component of the AOA High-Performance Plan.
1. HIGH-PERFORMANCE COACHES MEETING, SEPTEMBER 29TH IN TORONTO
This will take place at the Canadian Sport Institute of Ontario (CSIO) in Toronto.
Performance Level (PL), High Performance (HP) coaches and AOA Learning Facilitators will be invited directly to this session at CSIO at the Toronto Pan-Am Centre alongside the Ontario Ski Team and U19 High-Performance Program testing sessions. The focus of the day will be on skill development, tactics, technique, tracking and LTAD focus for HP athletes with the opportunity to view the CSIO training facilities. The Ontario Ski Team coaches and athletes will be on-site participating in a testing weekend. AOA intends to get all of the key HP coaches in the province on the same page in regard to AOA’s HP Plan through to 2024 so the community is working towards the same goals. AOA will be inviting coaches to this opportunity directly.
2. KICK-START YOUR SEASON! DEC 5-6-7, MT. ST. LOUIS MOONSTONE
All coaches are invited to the Dec 6-7 Mt. St. Louis Moonstone Professional Development days to learn all about the Province’s focus on skill development from AOA’s Skill Development Ambassadors. Coaches will be able to fine-tune their coaching skills with some of the best coaches and athletes in Ontario! This new event will provide AOA coaches with yearly coach licencing credits. AOA’s goal is to bring all coaches together at the beginning of the season, on-snow to learn from each other in a practical environment to improve the quality of consistent coaching across the province.
