Anne Heggtveit Cup continues to honour Olympic Gold Medal Winner from 1960
(Ottawa, ON) – February 26th, 2018
From March 1st to March 4th the best male and female FIS racers from Ontario, Quebec and North-Eastern USA will compete in slalom races at Camp Fortune and hope to claim the bragging rights of having their name on the Anne Heggtveit Cup. This is an annual Alpine Ontario sponsored ski event that honours Anne Heggtveit, an Ottawa native who won a gold medal in the 1960 Olympics in Squaw Valley, California. These races are a stop on the Alpine Ontario Cadillac Fairview Oxford FIS OCUP series.
The men’s slalom will take place on March 1 and 2 while the women will race March 3 and 4. It will be exciting to welcome back local athletes who are currently racing with the Ontario Ski Team ( men’s team – Hunter Watson of Camp Fortune Ski Club, brothers Sam and Alex Duff of Calabogie Ski Race Club and their coach Alex Lennox, who raced for Camp Fortune and the local elite NCO ski team) as well as the Ontario women’s team which includes former Camp Fortune athlete Nicole Clarke. The Quebec Ski teams will also be here featuring former Mont Cascades racer Helen Hume and Aidan Marler from Mont Ste Marie, QC.
