(Collingwood, ON) June 27th, 2018 — Last Friday, approximately 80 AOA NZ supporters participated in the return of AOA’s Golf Tournament, re-branded as the 1st Annual AOA NZ Legends Golf Tournament, presented by Project X. This event marked the first golf tournament for AOA in over 10 years!

We have a lot of thank yous and will start with Project X who came on board as the title sponsor and filled four of the 18 foursomes. Your support does not go unnoticed and we are officially naming Steve Hayward, as the CGE, Chief Golf Executive to lead both AOA and NZ as we plan out the 2019 Golf Tournament!

Following Project X, we’d like to thank the following partners for helping us run this event and raise nearly $30,000 for athlete development and athlete safety:

  • Alpine Ski Club
  • Aviva Insurance
  • Blake Farrow Project Managements
  • Cowan Financial Planning
  • Kuu Sports & Mosquito Shield
  • Osler Bluff Ski Club
  • Georgian Peaks Ski Club
  • Searchmont Ski Runners
  • Fox & Fiddle Cityplace
  • Mike Stollery Automotive Partnerships
  • Student Life Network
  • Sotheby’s Realty & Storey Badger
  • Windfall Blue Mountain

The funds raised for Athlete Development will support the Ontario Ski Team and U16 High Performance Program (HPP) which includes approximately 50 athletes, many, or most of whom, are on a quest for excellence including eyeing Canada’s National Ski Team in the years to come. We must keep this dream alive – high performance sport is an inspiration for all of us and I encourage others to support these dynamic young athletes!

Supporting the teams were a few CAST alumni including the great Edi Podivinsky, Brad King and Rob Crossan. All remain active in the alpine world and we appreciate your support and your presence with the next generation of athletes including 6 of the 7 members of the 2018-19 Ontario Ski Team.

My final thanks go out to the AOA and SOD staff and coaches for their help hosting the event, plus the members of the Ontario Ski Team who did a fantastic job meeting members and selling all those raffle tickets.

Let’s set a goal to double our foursome registration for 2019!!
Thanks again.
