Calgary, Alta. (July 4, 2018) – Alpine Canada is pleased to announce that Brien Perry is joining the organization as Director, Domestic Sport, effective August 20th.

Perry will provide leadership in the areas of domestic sport operations including, provincial teams and organizations, domestic programming, membership, coach education/certification and domestic sports events.  His key goals will include maintaining and strengthening key stakeholder relationships in support of achieving alpine success. This will entail engaging all stakeholders in the achievement of programs, events and coach education that sees all athletes reaching their potential and some being top performers at national and international levels. He will be based in Calgary and report to Alpine Canada CEO, Vania Grandi.

I am looking forward to working with Brien to build strong relationships with our provincial partners and developing programs that inspire our young racers to make it to the top of the World Cup podium!

Perry is excited about returning to sport in Canada after 20 years in oil and gas in various Human Resources roles including Vice President level roles since November 2011 at Enerplus and Secure Energy Services.  His strong business credentials are teamed up with a very diverse history of alpine skiing roles including: Canadian Juvenile Championship’s competitor in 1972, Club Coach in Alberta from 1977 to 1983, National Team Coach (Women’s) from 1984 through 1988 and Alberta Alpine Ski Association President from 1993 to 1998 (including several years as Vice Chair of the Women’s Lake Louise World Cup).

“What really excites me most about this role is the opportunity to work hand in hand with the professionals and volunteers across Canada who all want to deliver development programming that supports all participants in the achievement of their personal best and helps Canada maintain and build on its reputation as an alpine sport nation” says Perry.
