Coach Development Opportunity

(Collingwood, ON) November 13th, 2017 – Alpine Ontario Alpin congratulates Georgian Peaks coach Andy Holba on his selection to attend the upcoming December 2-10th Alpine Canada Alpin Rising Stars Camp as the lead Ontario coach. Andy was chosen by the selection committee based on the new AOA Coach Project Selection Policy Prior to this selection AOA had requested coach nominations from clubs across the province which made for a difficult decision as Ontario has some of the most experienced, knowledgeable coaches in the country.

The ACA Rising Stars camp is an annual national project led by Alpine Canada Alpin with 26 of the best U16 athletes from across the country joining together for a week of training.  Athletes benefit from seven days of early season quality training with top coaches both from ACA as well as other Provinces.  The 2017 camp will be held at Panorama, BC December 2-10.  More on the athletes selected to the opportunity are here.

In support of coach development AOA is asking all clubs to consider sending one of their DL level coaches to Panorama Dec. 2-10th for development and mentoring purposes.  This expense will be at the clubs cost however it will expose the DL level coach to ACA coaches along with provincial coaching leaders from across the country.  AOA will be providing opportunities like this one for several AOA projects in 2018 including CanAM’s and the Sport Chek U16 Nationals taking place in Collingwood, March 6-10th.
