The Jonny Kellock Foundation was formed as a legacy entity of our friend and teammate who tragically lost a hard-fought battle with brain cancer in January 2021. To honour Jonny’s lifelong commitment to the sport of ski racing, and passion for coaching, the foundation, in collaboration with Alpine Canada Alpin, seeks to support the personal and professional development of Canada’s young coaches (and their athletes) by enabling them to join Alpine Canada’s high-performance teams on the road. In doing so, coaches will be gaining valuable experience and exposure, while accelerating the transfer of knowledge to Canada’s provincial and club programs.

For the first year of this initiative, the Jonny Kellock Foundation will be covering the expenses of two individuals as they join Alpine Canada for the following projects (1 each):

i) Lake Louise World Cup Prep Phase– Join the World Cup speed team for the Nakiska prep period, leading up to the Lake Louise World Cup race weekend. (1-1.5 weeks late November*)

ii) Panorama FIS Alpine Junior World Championship – Join the Junior World Championship team for the pre-race prep period and initial Speed block. (February 25 – March 6)
*Exact Dates to be confirmed

These engagements have been specifically selected to ensure attendees gain the most relevant experience possible in terms of technical focus, while offering exposure to both training and race environments. Applicants can expect to sit in on video sessions, support on-snow technical feedback, observe the best practices of our nation’s greatest athletes, and experience the intensity and focus necessary to succeed at the highest level – all while joining Alpine Canada as a crucial day-to-day staff member. Attendees will be accompanied by an ACA facilitator to ensure a positive and productive experience for all.

Applicants will be selected based on their commitment to their coaching career, quality of character, their ability to contribute as an active member of the day-to-day Alpine Canada staff, as well as the quality of their written responses.  Please click here for the application.
