Officials Update this Saturday in SOD

If you would like to get involved as a sport volunteer/Official please mark these IMPORTANT dates in your Calendar!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1ST: Officials UPDATE and Community Event, Alpine Ski Club 1pm

Whether or not you need your update in order to keep your certification current, you won’t want to miss this event happening at Alpine Ski Club at 1pm.   We encourage all of SOD Officials to come out and receive the latest rule updates from FIS, Alpine Canada and Alpine Ontario.    We will also be celebrating our local Officials and acknowledging the people who have helped to build up the SOD Officials Community.   Also on the agenda…. sharing some of our plans for our Officials Community.  This is a free event, so don’t delay and register today by logging in to the AOA website.


LEVEL 1 Officials Courses:

  1. Milton Ski Club (Glen Eden):  Saturday December 15th , 9am – 12 pm
  2. Collingwood Public Library:  Saturday December 15th, 12:30 – 3:30 pm
  3. Blue Mountain Resort:  Sunday December 30th,  9:30am –  12:30 pm

There are Officials Courses being added all of the time, so check the Alpine Ontario Calendar for one near you.  

Who is this for?  For everyone who would like to volunteer at a race or understand the races better and for any officials wanting a refresher.
Prerequisites: None!  You don’t even need to be a skier!
Exam: None!  This is an entry-level course. It’s an overall introduction to race organization and the various Officials positions.

LEVEL 2 Officials Courses:

Snow Valley Resort (Barrie):  Saturday December 8th , 8:30am – 4:30 pm

Prerequisites:  Level 1 Certification and Practical Experience in at least three (3) different positions in two (2) different categories- 8 days’ race experience.

Exam: 1 hour (open book) exam.  True or False and short written answers.

LEVEL 2 Skier Cross Officials: 

Craigleith:  Sunday December 30th, 1-4:30pm

Prerequisites: Level 1 Skier Cross

LEVEL 3 OFFICIALS COURSE:

AOA will be conducting a Level 3 Officials Course in the Spring of 2019.   Please know that we will accept and review Level 3 candidate’s “resumes” and submission of their practical experience in order to be recommended by the AOA Officials Chair, Nathalene Hagar  (officials@alpineontario.ca).   If candidates are in need of additional experience, we encourage those individuals to use the 2019 season to gain the necessary knowledge in advance of the Level 3 Course.
