Submitted to AOA from TES Hynes, SOD Program Director

The SOD TEAM is experiencing a fantastic pre-season training in Panorama B.C. on what can only be described as ‘hero snow’. The team has worked on both SL and GS on a variety of terrain and were lucky enough to have strong training partners including CAST Men’s Devo, BC Ski Team Men, Andorra National Men, Burke Academy FIS Men and World Cup skier, Craigleith’s own and CAST racer Phil Brown.

The fabulous early season snow conditions have allowed the coaches to set one minute 10 second GS courses on very challenging terrain.

The team has now moved over to Super-G, again with great conditions and minute-long runs with athletes fitting in 10 runs or more. Very productive and high volume!

A big thank you to both Karl Kuus and Hunter Watson of Ontario who are attending Plymouth State University in New Hampshire and trained with the SOD Team on this camp.  Both Karl and Hunter are sub 30 point skiers who really mentored and added perspective for our younger FIS athletes on the team.

This week we have Luka Veljovic forerunning the women’s world cup at Lake Louise and the rest of the SOD Team will be logging miles back at Panorama with National Team member and Craigleith alumni Phil Brown prior to his upcoming World Cup SL race in Val Desire, France.

ember 28 -30 our National Alpine Para Team will be racing their first races of the season at panorama (SL, GS & SG ) where some SOD team members will be forerunning as well.  The camp will conclude with the SL races at Norquay this weekend, December 1st and 2nd. Best of luck to all competitors!
