Where are they now? UBC Ski Team

Thanks to proud dad David Boughner (daughter Sam Boughner, SOD Ski Team alumni) for sharing this fun news from the UBC Ski Team….. “For the first time ever UBC will be hosting a USCSA Conference Slalom Race in Vancouver this season. The race will be on February 10-11, 2018 and will feature almost 200 student athletes from the Northwest Region of USA and British Columbia.

Two AOA Alumni were selected in this week’s UBC Ski Team newsletter as Athletes of the Week including DK Belisle from the National Ski Academy and Sam Boughner from the SOD Ski Team/Osler Bluff Ski Club. “

Samantha is from Toronto and  she is enrolled  in the coordinated arts program – law and society in the faculty of arts. In FIS, Boughner skied first for the SOD team. Her best results includes winning the CanAms GS in U16, coming Third in the Whistler Cup Super G and in FIS scoring in the low 70s. Boughner’s favourite disciplines consist of GS and Super G, and favourite place to ski is Whistler because of it’s breath taking views and amazing terrain. In the off season Boughner loves spending time outdoors, which includes her summer job of working at Camp Tanamakoon in Algonquin park. Boughner also enjoys participating in other sports such as field hockey.

DK is from Collingwood and started racing when she was 11 years old and continued all the way through high school at the National Ski Academy. DK competed through to her first year in FIS and has had the amazing opportunity to ski all over the world. Her favourite discipline is slalom and her favourite places to ski in Canada include Whistler and Fernie. However Belisle’s all time favourite resort is Saas Fee, Switzerland where she trained for 2 months every year with the National Ski Academy. DK is currently enrolled in the faculty of land and food systems at UBC studying food and nutrition.
